Sentara Breaks Ground On Albemarle Medical Center

Sentara Healthcare (Norfolk, Va.) has broken ground on the new Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, N.C., which will replace the current 60-year-old facility.

The 88-bed hospital, scheduled to open in 2024, is being built on the 135-acre Sentara Albemarle Regional Health campus. It will be adjacent to a 60,000-square-foot medical office building (MOB), which is slated to open in early 2023.

The hospital will include a new linear accelerator and a new digital hub to improve connectivity to medical specialists.

Innovate Architecture of Norfolk (Norfolk) is the architect on the project.
