Northwestern Memorial chooses Howard Chrisman as new CEO


Chrisman holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, a medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and a Master of Business in healthcare administration from the University of Colorado.

Northwestern Medicine operates 11 hospitals and employs 33,000 people, 4,400 of which are physicians, according to its website.

The health system was the second-largest healthcare system in the region by 2020 revenue, according to Crain’s data. It reported more than $5.57 billion in 2020 net patient revenue and $293 million in net profits. 

Harrison is among the highest-paid hospital system CEOs in Chicago. He was paid more than $7 million in 2019, according to Northwestern Memorial Healthcare’s most recent available filing with the Internal Revenue Service.
