Nonprofit Luminis Health (Annapolis, Md.) received approval from the Maryland Healthcare Commission (Baltimore) to expand labor and delivery services at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center in Lanham, Md., according to the website living.aahs.org.
The $300 million project includes an acute care patient tower and renovations to the existing hospital’s infrastructure and surgical services.
Situated adjacent to the current hospital, the 183,000-square-foot tower will house a dedicated family birth center with private rooms for labor and delivery and post-delivery suites, dedicated C-section operating rooms (ORs), Level II special care nursery, and ORs for gynecologic, breast, bariatric, and complex general surgeries.
A birthing center for midwives and additional support space are also planned for the project, which is slated to open in 2028.
