$35-Million Argentina Wine Estate Produces 600,000 Bottles Annually

The province of Mendoza is at the heart of Argentina’s viticulture. Centrally located along the country’s western border, it is separated from Chile by the Andes Mountains.

The bucolic region produces fruit, vegetables and honey but is known worldwide for its vineyards. Argentina is among the leading wine producing countries in the world – joining in the top ranks are Italy, Spain, France and the United States.

Tourists are drawn to Mendoza’s wineries for tours and tastings as well as an annual grape harvest festival. Parks, golf, spas, horseback riding and fly-fishing are among other area attractions.

Atamisque is an established winery estate for sale at US $35 million. The property has 125 hectares (more than 300 acres) of vineyards, wine producing facilities, a main family house, a par-three golf course and six lodge suites that can be rented out – even an on-site gourmet restaurant. Views take in the vineyards and the snow-capped Andes.

Surrounded by century old trees and lawn, the main house has a large living room, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The house could be used as a personal residence, rented out in its entirety or converted to a boutique hotel. Nearby is a swimming pool with a diving board.

Beyond the vineyards, hundreds of acres with fruit trees, a trout lake and natural landscaping create a tranquil setting for the 67-square-meter (721-square-foot) luxury lodges. Each has a bedroom, a living area and a porch with an outdoor spa. Features include high beamed ceilings, fireplaces and soaking tubs.

Inmobiliaria Rimontgo’s Puri Mancebo, whose real estate specialty is wineries, is the listing agent.

Among the varieties of wine produced on the property are Malbec, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

Production is 600,000 bottles annually. About three-quarters of that is exported to 30 countries. There’s on-site storage for about 1 million bottles.

The estate is about an hour drive from the international airport at Mendoza.
