$9-Million Maryland Estate Has All The Toys: Planes, Trains And Automobiles

Round Hill is an estate community of Potomac, Maryland, filled with custom-built mansions in a variety of architectural styles. Prestigious? Yes. Stodgy? Not necessarily.

The sellers of an elegant fieldstone estate now listed at nearly $9 million know how to have fun.

Inside the more than 21,000-square-foot mansion a full-scale airplane is suspended from the ceiling of the billiard room. A model train travels along the ceilings of other rooms. There’s a three-tier home theater with seating for 21, a gym, an indoor sports court and a yoga/spa room.

Outdoors, the two acres of grounds contain a 20-foot-by-40-foot swimming pool, a pool house and a cabana. Plus, the heated five-car garage has ample space to store additional toys.

Stone steps lead up to the window-surrounded front door, which sits under a white-column supported portico. Black shutters define the windows, some of which are arched.

An arch-topped hallway leads from the two-story foyer to the two-story great room with mahogany paneling, wood floors and a stone fireplace. A step-down library features rounded walls, a fireplace and built-ins — resembling a slightly smaller version of the Oval Office.

The formal dining, with a bay window and crown molding, can accommodate a table for 12. Extensive millwork, custom details and a total of 13 fireplaces are among the details throughout.

A wet bar and seating area overlook the billiard room.

The two-story-tall kitchen features limestone floors, marble and teak countertops, a double-sided fireplace and an eat-at island. It opens to an informal dining area enclosed by windows.

The second level houses seven bedrooms and eight full bathrooms. There are a total of nine bedrooms and 13 bathrooms within the residence, including a guest suite with a kitchenette.

Mature trees, lawn, an expansive flagstone patio, walkways and English gardens complete the grounds.
