Whether you live in California or are just visiting, West Hollywood is one of the best neighborhoods to shop for home furnishings. Known to locals as WEHO, this area is frequented by some of the top interior designers visiting the many showrooms at the world-famous Pacific Design Center. But it’s also the home of lots of independent shops as well as tried and true chains including CB2, West Elm, RH, and Design Within Reach.

I recently spoke with two interior designers who are featured in the newest campaign for Creators of West Hollywood, to learn their favorite places to shop in the area. This campaign focuses on exploring the “new luxury” that has recently emerged in the city along with the creator’s perspective behind what drives their inspiration.

Whether you’re looking for original art, bespoke furniture, or the softest sheets you can sleep on, here’s a guide to some of the best places to shop for home furnishings and decor in West Hollywood.

Mary Ta’s Picks

Mary Ta isn’t just a designer, she owns and operates two furniture stores in West Hollywood—Mass Beverly and Minotti. One of her favorite places to shop is James Perse Home. Ta tells me, “I love the giant cheese boards integrated and designed like surfboards, their bed linens made of similar quality soft T-shirt materials.”

While the brand is best known for its stylish clothing, the home line is just as chic. James Perse has a showroom at the Pacific Design Center as well as a retail outpost on Robertson Boulevard. The store has everything from sheets to towels, bedding, some larger pieces of furniture, and even an antique collection. Don’t forget to pick up a few t-shirts while you’re there.

Ta is also a fan of the Bang & Olufsen store on Roberston. “Their bespoke showroom on Robertson where you get to custom design everything,” the designer explains. The brand is best known for its stylishly designed electronics. Truly incomparable to anything else, B&O has wireless speakers, televisions, and BeoSound products. Once you experience this location, it’s easy to understand why the brand is a favorite of both audiophiles and interior designers.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for art, Ta suggests checking out the Louis Stern Gallery. She loves the Bertoia sculptures. She tells me this artist is an “icon of the West Hollywood art scene.” With unique exhibitions from a variety of rotating artists, there’s always something new to see at Louis Stern.

Adair Curtis’ Secret Design Sauce

Celebrity interior designer and co-founder of JSN Studio, Adair Curtis loves to shop at Boundary on Robertson Boulevard “Their collections are chic and include one-of-a-kind pieces that fit my design aesthetic. Every time I go there, I find pieces that perfectly align with my projects. The owners have become great collaborators of mine,” he says. With a variety of larger pieces and decor by independent designers, this store is the perfect spot for eye catching pieces.

In business since 1986, Between The Sheets is a mainstay on Robertson. It has the very best in linens, bath accessories, and decor sourced from Europe. The store’s private label line will have you saying “Holy Sheet,” because the prints are truly like nothing else. From stripes to flowers and even bird prints, Between The Sheets has some of the most sophisticated bedding on the market. For those with a more neutral sense of style, the store also has lots of solid high thread count luxury bedding, as well as throw blankets, and coverlets. Need a special housewarming gift? There isn’t a better place to find something equally thoughtful and unique.

Atacama Home offers an impressive selection of luxury handmade artisanal goods sourced from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. Founded by Javier Carbo and Dora Medrano, this Melrose Avenue shop has cool, modern decor from sculptural pieces of glass ideal for accenting bookshelves and tables to baskets and essentials including tableware and rugs.

Located on Melrose Avenue, Gracie was established in 1898 by Charles R. Gracie. The fourth-generation family business has a jaw-dropping selection of handpainted wallpaper. From chinoiserie to tree and floral designs, traditional home lovers will gladly hand over their credit cards. Gracie also has framed panels, along with Asian antiques and lacquer furniture.

Phyllis Morris on Robertson has been making bespoke furniture for more than sixty years. From beds to dining tables, sofas, cabinets, and seating, it’s a perfect place for maximalists to have the pieces of their dreams created. Morris designs everything in her own style, which is Hollywood Regency and California eclectic meets baroque and fantasy.
