OMG!!!
MGK is opening up about the shocking physical toll behind one of the most dramatic transformations of his career — and the details are seriously intense!
The artist formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly has never been afraid to reinvent himself, whether through music, fashion, or his ever-evolving image. But according to a new interview, his decision to cover huge portions of his body with a massive blackout tattoo pushed him far beyond his limits — and left him dealing with some scary health issues along the way! Oh, no!!

Explaining the motivation behind the dramatic body art while speaking to Billboard Canada this week for a new cover story, the rocker started by sharing:
“The same way I was reinventing my sound, I wanted to reinvent my body.”
The tattoo, designed by celebrity artist ROXX, stretches across much of his chest, stomach, and arms in what MGK describes as a striking “dark mode” look. But while the project was initially expected to take years to finish, the musician had a very different timeline in mind. In fact, he was determined to complete the entire thing in just two months!!
MGK admitted even his tattoo artist had concerns about whether such an ambitious schedule was realistic:
“She warned me that it was going to be near impossible, even from a pain tolerance standpoint. I said, ‘Yeah, we got two months.’”
‘Near impossible’, you say?! Turns out that was an understatement!
Rather than spacing out appointments and allowing his body time to recover, MGK reportedly underwent tattoo sessions day after day at ROXX’s El Lay studio. The relentless pace eventually caught up with him in a major way, tho — and the side effects sound absolutely terrifying!
According to the performer:
“After the first week, we hit my lymph nodes around my armpits and shoulders, and I got really sick. My skin was turning yellow. I wasn’t able to sleep. I stopped being able to move certain parts of my upper body.”
Whoa!
Yellow skin? Trouble sleeping? Limited movement?! That is not your average tattoo experience!

Still, despite the frightening symptoms, MGK chose to keep going. Rather than seeing the ordeal as a reason to stop, he viewed it as a challenge to conquer, and after making it through the painful journey, he says the experience left a lasting impact on him:
“I came out the other side extremely inspired. Not just because of what I had done, but because of what I had to overcome.”
Well, that’s one way to look at it…
