Resolution Filed To Impeach Trump For Covering Up ICE Murders

Due to Republican efforts to gerrymander their way into saving the House majority, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) lost a runoff in the Democratic primary in a newly created district, but that doesn’t mean that Rep. Green plans to leave the House quietly.

According to Rep. Green’s office, the congressman has filed a resolution, “to impeach President Donald John Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors. The resolution states that President Trump abused his presidential powers by allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to operate without accountability, assault civilians, and cover up killings, including those of Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero.”

Green also personally wrote to Donald Trump to let him know the articles of impeachment had been filed.

Article I of the filing states:

Our country and the lives of people within it are at risk as President Donald John Trump is a great threat to the United States democratic republic, its Constitution, and democracy, violating Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 of the 3 United States Constitution and its mandate to faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, as he is abusing the powers of the presidency by operating United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as his vicious, quota-driven, unaccountable paramilitary police forces, transgressing with anonymity and secrecy, assaulting people, committing and covering up unjustified killings of civilians (including Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero) with impunity (acting as judge, jury, prosecutor, and executioner), terrorizing communities, and brazenly and wantonly devolving the United States democratic republic into an authoritarian regime, where unjustified killings and coverups by ICE and CBP are normalized.

Green’s letter told Trump why this action was being taken.
