With Trump looking more and more like he is about to become a lame duck, and the nation’s eyes are already drifting, at least a little, toward the 2028 election and finding the next person who will temporarily reside in the White House, the question of what to do with Trump’s destruction of Washington, D.C., in an effort to build monuments to himself is looming on the horizon.
Democrats are already considering how they are going to handle the White House ballroom, Trump’s arch, the Kennedy Center, and other acts of vandalism that the president has carried out or will carry out to satisfy his desire to leave behind a physical legacy.
In most cases, what Trump is doing to physical structures is vandalism because he hasn’t sought or obtained Congress’s approval for the changes he has made, as the law requires.

Sen. Reuben Gallego of Arizona was asked by Jake Tapper on CNN’s State Of The Union:
President Trump is putting his mark on Washington, D.C. quite a bit. Building a White House ballroom. His plans to build an arch. Attempts to rename the Kennedy Center the Reflecting Pool, and on. It seems clear to me that this is gonna be a big issue for Democrats running for president in 2028.
I, I know you haven’t made a decision yet about whether or not you’re gonna run for president, but if you do, would you advocate for tearing down the ballroom or tearing down the arch?
Gallego went beyond saying Trump’s projects should come down by explaining why Donald Trump should be erased and wiped out.
