Study tracks risk factors for Alzheimer's disease and dementias in South Asian Americans



Members of diasporas across the world, such as the large Indian diaspora, are influenced by the food and lifestyle of the countries where they live. The new societal factors they experience, together with differences in their genetic makeup, often uniquely affect their health outcomes for diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia. Comprehensive risk-assessment studies of various diasporas are needed to develop research and policies that address emerging health issues arising from global population movements.
